DO YOU REALLY
NEED ALL THAT?

LESS HAS NEVER MEANT MORE

You can only wear so much

At Colorful Standard, we believe in a future where overconsumption is replaced by a more responsible way of shopping. That’s why you’ll never see us offering sales or promotions; a business practice often rooted in unnecessary mass production and hidden corporate margins. That’s not really our thing. Rather, we believe in offering long lasting and high quality products at a fair price, all year round. Keeping it simple and sustainable, now that’s what we’re about.

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the world's carbon emissions, but recent studies show that 80% of Black Friday purchases end up in a landfill after just one or even zero uses. That’s just sad, plain and simple.

So the next time a sale rolls around we invite you to ask yourself, do you really need all that?

Buy less, buy better

The good news is, we’re capable of change! With a different mindset and a little bit of practice, you can fight overconsumption by shopping sustainably, one t-shirt at a time.

We’ve brought together a few members from our Colorful Community to share the reasons why they've joined us in taking a stand against overconsumption.

Bamba

28, Real estate agent & muay thai fighter

"If I can, in any way, influence people to take overconsumption seriously, I will. It’s a huge issue, especially in how we conduct ourselves when buying goods. Purchasing fewer but better products will decrease the number of necessary materials used in global production."

Chris

18, Student & model

"I wanted to be part of this interesting and unique campaign because of its eye opening message. Fast fashion is getting worse and worse, and more brands need to be paying close attention to this topic. We all should all be prioritizing quality over quantity."

"We all should all be prioritizing quality over quantity."

Jemima

25, Mother

"Taking a stand against sales is important to me because I want to be part of the movement that stops normalizing overconsumption. I want a better tomorrow for my son and for him to have a healthy planet to grow up on. We are role models and need to step up our game for a better future. We don't need more than what is enough."

"I want a better tomorrow for my son."

Ivan

26, Musician

"I wanted to be part of this campaign because it’s important to remind people that we already have enough, but are part of an over consuming culture. In my own life I’ve always bought clothes from second-hand stores, and as a kid, gotten hand-me-downs from family members. Every little bit helps and if I can do it, you can too."

"It’s important to remind people that we already have enough."

Naomi

32,  Student

"I really want to contribute to saving the planet. The fashion industry is one of the main reasons that the climate is not getting better, so if I can help inspire even just one over-consuming fashionista to shop more mindfully, it’s progress."

"I really want to contribute to saving the planet."

Sophia

25, Sales associate & fitness instructor

"Constant sales are bad news for the environment, and our planet is paying the price. I wanted to be part of this campaign to show that events like Black Friday create a false mentality that encourages people to buy things that they don’t actually need. Do you really need that sweater in six different colors?"

"Constant sales are bad news for the environment."

Together, let's change the standards.
